While in Morocco, we visited Rissani, on the edge of the Sahara Desert a couple of times this year. The second visit, we spent 5 weeks there, just after the lockdown was lifted, and we were able to leave Tinghir.
We painted a mural for Hassan, the owner, and we suffered through 40+ degree heat every day, and over 35 degrees during the night, without fans or A/C!
It was certainly another experience to add to the pile! I have written a post on our website about our experience. Although super hot, and many times uncomfortable (don’t go in July/August!), we truly did enjoy our time there.
I highly recommend making Rissani a stop on your desert experience. The whole area is rife with so much history and traditions, it truly felt, to me at least, like the REAL Morocco that I had been wanting to see.
I have made a video of where we are staying in Essaouira right now. We have rented this place for another couple months because we just love it so much!
