Netherlands
In December of 2015 Chris and I embarked on our first overseas journey together. We were headed to Greece, Bulgaria and Italy for 6 weeks of fun and exploration. But first, we had a 23.5 hour layover in Amsterdam.
I know it’s cliche to say that I found myself in Amsterdam. But it’s true. It was while sitting at dinner in a restaurant, on the busy little alleyways that run this way and that, that I cried huge tears of relief and joy. Relief that I was finally back out in the world, after 8 years of staying stationary, and pure joy in realizing just how happy I was to be doing it.
As I watched the throngs of people pour past the little Vietnamese shop that night, I started to put pieces of myself back together that had been long forgotton and buried somewhere deep inside of me. It was in that moment that I FINALLY realized just how happy that traveling made me, and, I beleive, it was in that moment that we began on our paths to becoming Nomadic.
finding ourselves lost in amsterdam
I really had no concept of what we were getting ourselves into, I just knew we had 23.5 hours there, and I didn’t want to miss a thing!!
